When I was struggling after my miscarriages and stillbirths, the thought of meals for my family was over-whelming! Deciding what to make daily, going to the store to get the ingredients, make the meal, eat the meal and then the clean up and dishes. I just couldn’t! Some days I couldn’t even call for a pizza (seriously). My Doctor suggested a chef but I couldn’t afford this. I wanted to do once a month cooking, freezer meals or batch cooking but I couldn’t find any healthy meals that my family would like.
I have just found some !!!!! ( insert happy dance).
I think freezer meals are the way to go, for the following reasons:
- Saves time
- Saves money
- You don’t have to think about what to serve each night
- Healthy food–which is very important when you are grieving (more on this later)
- Minimal clean up (happy dance!)
I am going to make the freezer meals tomorrow and load up my freezer.
If you are struggling with or find this task daunting, get your mom, sister or friend to help. Or just make half. It only takes 3 hours. If you can just do this, one thing, then the rest of the month will be easier. I promise!

The meals are cost effective and delicious, there is no pre cooking, there is a shopping list , only one store to shop at and a list of what you should serve with each meal. Just send your husband to the store on the way home from work to pick up what you need to serve the meal.
